Pilot Project for Tehran Street’s GIS data base
Objective : To study all existing map layers and tabular data used for Traffic and Transportation control of Tehran
City in order to introduce a standard data model and data exchange protocols between GIS and specialized traffic
softwares .
Project Specifications: appropriate data model in different data layers for different usages are introduced and pilot
area maps are prepared. Data Preparation and editing procedures are tested and manuals are prepared . All the
Data used in Traffic control centers of Tehran along with Existing softwares are studied and tested . Other Traffic
softwares existing in international market are also studied and for two most popular softwares named emme2 and
transcad , spatial data exchange methods are developed and solution presented. all the traffic signs and features
are being collected to be used in the data base.
Pilot area: in order to have a full traffic cycle with all necessary variations an area between Hemat , Kariem khan , Valiehasr and Modaress streets are chosen as pilot study area.
